Information You Send Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies the result. McLean Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the details you include and use them to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Our host may record routine log data such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review this information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand general page use. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How Visitor Data Is Used
Limited data is used to operate the site, diagnose technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell lists of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.
Third-Party Destinations
McLean Residents Directory links to Fairfax County and Virginia record portals, libraries, archives, and outside search services. A destination site's own policy controls information you submit there. The same is true for sponsored results provided by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers may process the ordinary log information described above on our behalf. Analytics or advertising providers may receive automatic technical data. We disclose information when required by valid legal process and otherwise only as described in this policy.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes in this policy require. Because the site has no user accounts, it does not hold an account password or a visitor profile for exposure.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Privacy and Record Requests
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information this site holds about you. The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act is relevant background for covered controllers and consumer-rights requests, but it does not make a Fairfax County public record deletable from this private reference. Because we keep little visitor information, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page to submit it.
Public records are controlled by the custodian that created them. Virginia's public-records framework is the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code ยงยง2.2-3700-2.2-3715. A VFOIA request should identify an existing record with reasonable specificity and go to the responsible office, such as Fairfax DTA, Elections, the Circuit Court, or the relevant Virginia agency. It does not require an agency to create a new record or remove a lawfully maintained one.
